Pogoń Lębork is a club established in 1945 which initially was connected with the Polish railways. Until 2006, their emblem was connected to the city’s coat of arms, against a background in white, blue and red colours, and the club did not have its own original symbol. At this time club officials announced a competition to create a new emblem for Pogoń. I submitted several proposals for this competition – this was a time when I was learning computer graphics and I believed (sometimes naively) that contests are a good way to verify ideas. My design was a success, one of my ideas appealed to the club and was chosen as their new emblem!
The logo I designed is simply put together – a shield with a distinct shape, filled with three vertical stripes in the colours of the club and a horizontally cut field with the name of the club – all forming the sign of the cross. After all, Lębork is famous for its Teutonic castle.
